Rules

Goal: My remote is a game for 2 to 4 players. Your goal is to decide the most TV shows to be watched by you and your siblings.

Contents:

5 Channel Decks

1 TV List Board

8 6-sided dice

1 plastic remote

Setup:

  1. Place board within easy reach of all players

  2. Shuffle each channel deck separately and place on the corresponding board spaces

  3. Give each player two six sided dice

  4. Place the remote on the start space on the board

Gameplay

  1. To start play, all players yell “3, 2, 1, Mom’s gone” at the same time. Then play begins

  2. Each player rolls their dice until they get a 10, 11, or 12. This happens in real time, so players can roll as they’re able.

  3. When a player gets a 10, 11, or 12, they can yell “My Remote!” then take the remote from the board or another player

  4. As long as you have the remote you can start choosing a TV show. To do this, read the name of the channel you’d like to watch out loud, then draw a card and read its title. If you complete these two readings you can place the card on the next available time slot on your track. If any other players take the remote in the middle of your reading you must give the remote and stop immediately. Place the card in front of you to read next time you get the remote and resume rerolling dice as in step 2.

  5. When the last time slot at 11:30 is filled the player filling it yells “mom’s home” and the round is over

  6. Slide all the cards over to the Rerun zone to indicate scoring bonuses for the next round

  7. The player with the most points after 3 rounds wins

Special

  1. If you manage to get one show decided for each of the 4 basic types in a round you can say “Parental Lock Unlocked” and start reading from the advanced deck. These cards are harder, but worth more points.

Scoring

  1. You get 1 point for each basic show decided

  2. You get 3 points for each advanced show decided

  3. Double these points if there’s a rerun (the same show type in the same slot as the day before)
